Indy CEO Earns National Junior Achievement Honor
INDIANAPOLIS - Sarah Hempstead, chief executive officer and principal at Indianapolis-based architecture firm Schmidt Associates, is one of 10 recipients nationally of Junior Achievement USA’s Gold Leadership Award. The award recognizes the recipients’ volunteer service with JA during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Junior Achievement of Central Indiana says Hempstead was chosen from among tens of thousands of volunteers throughout the country.
“Our local business community’s support of JA is critical to achieving our mission, to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy,” Jennifer Burk, president of Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, said in written remarks. “Sarah Hempstead is a remarkable example of that spirit of dedication and service to others. In a very real way, she helps Indianapolis area JA students get the knowledge and skills they need to own their future success and make smart academic and economic choices.”
Hempstead has served as a principal at Schmidt Associates since 2001 and CEO since 2016.
She serves on the boards of directors for Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, The Arts Council of Indianapolis, and the Indy Chamber, among others.
